Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori
Whereas Farah Khan’s first love is direction, she has not given up her career as choreographer and continues to work for some close friends including Shahrukh Khan and Karan Johar. Apart from these two, one other actor, whom Farah loves to choreograph is Hrithik Roshan. So, when Farah was signed to choreograph a song with the actor for his upcoming dream project Kites, she was naturally very thrilled.
But, now it seems that though Farah is keen to work with the Roshans, the Roshan family does not take the choreographer too seriously. This was revealed when the Roshans decided to delete a song choreographed by Farah from the final copy of the film Kites.
Though, the film is in the news for various reason including the much talked about closeness and chemistry between Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori, releasing the film has not been easy for producer Rakesh Roshan. You may recall that the film, which was premiered at the prestigious Cannes film festival earlier this year failed to evoke the kind of response that was expected for it. As a result, despite his best efforts Rakesh Roshan has also failed to sell the film in international market.
Sources close to Roshans say that one of the primary reasons for this lukewarm response to the film at the international level is that the film is rather long by standards of western and Hollywood audiences.
Since the film has to be re-edited and shortened before it is sold in international market, it seems the song choreographed by Farah needs to removed in that editing.
What has surprised Farah though is that no one from Rakesh Roshan’s company Filmkraft took the pain to inform Farah about the removal of the song. This despite the fact that Hrithik had taken upon himself that being a good friend, its he, who would take up the issue with Farah and inform her why the song had to be removed.
Though Farah is said to be very upset about the removal of the song, she has reconciled to the fact that it’s a director’s right to decide which scene to keep and which to remove from a film. And since she can’t do anything, Farah has no other choice than to accept that the song has been removed from Kites.
