Priyanka Chopra
All those who sit on the jury benches to decide the winners of various award functions in Bollywood are nothing but big fools and idiots and know nothing about either the industry or their work. At least this is what the director of Jodha Akbar Ashutosh Gowarikar tends to believe.
This came to light when Ashutosh slammed the juries of various award functions for preferring and awarding Priyanka Chopra for her performance in Fashion over and above the performance of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in JodhaAkbar, the film directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar himself. Contrary to the general understanding, Ashutosh feels that Aishwarya’s performance in in Jodha Akbar was far better than Priyanka’s performance in Fashion and therefore its Aishwarya, who deserves all the awards for best performance by a female in the lead role this year.
Speaking about Priyanka at the IIFA awards after picking up the best director’s trophy for Jodha Akbar, Ashutosh allegedly said, “Priyanka I love you, but I don’t know how you got the award for Best Actress in Fashion when Aishwarya has also been nominated in the same category for Jodhaa Akbar."
If you analyze what Ashutosh is trying to say more closely, you will realize that his statement about Aishwarya is nothing but self-praise. All he wants to say is that its Aishwarya’s performance in his film and under his direction, which is the best. But if Ashutosh thought that by saying these words, he is going to impress the Bachchan’s, he is wrong. The Bachchans are said to be highly upset with the director, who also got them involved in this entire controversy by saying "Jayaji (Jaya Bachchan) was just asking me the same thing."
As expected, Priyanka Chopra is said to be very upset with the whole incident. Though she has not said anything in words, the fact that she is upset over the issue was evident when she decided to stay away from all the celebrations, which were held after the award function.
