Vidhu Vinod Chopra has sent legal notice to the makers of the 4th Idiot for violating copyright act.

The producer of 3 Idiots, the super hit blockbuster of 2009, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who has been dragged to court by for various reasons like picking-up the idea of his film from Chetan Bhagat’s book Five Point Someone, has on this occasion for a change taken somebody else to court. The producer has sent a legal notice to the makers of a new animated film The 4th Idiot for violating the copyright act.

The 4th Idiot, which will be premiered this weekend has been produced and directed by Biswaroop Roy.

Vidhu has said in the notice that he is upset with the fact that the makers of The 4th Idiot have used the name, the story, its scenario, screenplay, dialogues and characters of his film, for publicizing and promoting their own film.

The notice also asked the makers of The 4th Idiot to immediately withdraw and in the future resist from using anything, which in anyway remotely relates to 3 Idiots.

Apart from Biswaroop Roy, Vidhu has also sent a copy of the notice to the World Unity Convention Centre in Lucknow, which was to hold the premier of the film, asking it not to do so until the matter regarding the copyright issue is not resolved.

Certainly, with the kind of phenomenal success 3 Idiots has got at the box office, everything related to it has become big and anyone will try to make use of it in whatever way possible. But with Vidhu sending legal notice to the makers of The 4th Idiot, people will have to be careful while doing so.
