Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam
How will you describe this man? He was India’s missile man, has been honored by the highest civilian award of the country, Bharat Ratna and known as the People’s President. Thus, if there is one person who can be addressed with more than one adjective to his name, it’s the former President of India, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam. Now, India’s most admired Present is getting ready to add one more qualification to his resume by becoming an actor.
So what made Dr Kalam turn to films? Reports suggest that there are mainly two reasons that have attracted the former President to say Yes to his first ever Bollywoold film. First, the film is based on children and will feature some child artist along with Dr. Kalam in the lead role. Since Mr. Kalam is extremely fond of children, he couldn’t refuse a film that gave him a chance to work with them.
Alongside, the central concept of the film is dream big. Dr Kalam has always believed that ‘Everyone is free to dream, so dream big’.
The film called Mein Kalam Hoon will feature the former President as Dr. Kalam only.
Apart from Dr, Kalam, another unique feature of the film will be that similar to Slumdog Millionaire, even the kids, who will be seen along with him, are not going to be professional actors but have been picked from the slums of Rajasthan.
Mein Kalam Hoon will be directed by Madhav Pandeya and produced by the SMILE Foundation and apart from Dr. Kalam and the kids, it will also feature Gulshan Grover and French actress, Sophie Brosstel in important characters.
Dr. Kalam has been successful in every endeavor that he has undertaken. But now he is trying his hand at a totally new field. Lets see whether he can win that many hearts even as an actor as he won as the People’s President of India.
