Kangna Ranaut, Won IIFA Supporting Role Award for Fashion.
Bipasha Basu Won IIFA Style Icon Award
The much awaited IIFA awards were announced in Macau in China this weekend and as expected they were swept away by Ashutosh Gowariker’s Jodha Akbar.
Among the technical awards, Jodha Akbar got the award for Best Background Score, Best Editing, Best Art Direction, Best Costume and Best Make-Up when A. R Rehman, Ballu Saluja, Nitin Chandrakant Desai, Neeta Lulla and Madhav Kadam respectively won an award in these categories. Jodha Akbar also won the award for Best Film. Along with this, Javed Akthar and A R Reham also won the award for best Lyrist and Best Music Director respectively.
The awards for best male lead actor and best director were also won by Hrithik Roshan and Ashutosh Gowariker respectively for the same film.
The Bachchan family, who are a sort of brand ambassador for these awards, did not go empty handed either when Abhishek Bachchan won the award for best actor in a comic role (male) for his performance in Dostana. Their joy remained incomplete though when, again much on expected lines, the award for best actress went to Priyanka Chopra and not Aishwarya Rai.
Other awardees include Shreya Ghoshal, Javed Ali, as best female and male playback singers, Akshaye Khanna in a negative role and Asin and Farhan Akhtar for best debutant female and male respectively. Kangana Ranawat and Arjun Rampal won the wards for best supporting role female and male respectively for their performances in Fashion and Rock On.
Apart from Jodha Akbar, Ghajini and Rock On were the other two award winning films at this award function, with three awards each.
