Whereas A R Rehman, an Indian composer from Bollywood is being applauded for his work across the globe after winning the Oscars for his work in Slumdog Millionaire, back home, Akshay Kumar is one actor in Bollywood, who is asking all his producers to record at least one song from international composers for all his upcoming films.
It seems that Akshay Kumar is too impressed with the success of the title track of his super hit film Singh Is King, which was sung by RDB and Snoop Dogg.
In fact, Akshay is said to be so keen on international music artists and composers doing a number for his films that he is personally approaching them for this purpose. Says Mukesh Taneja, the co-producer of Akshay’s movie Chandni Chowk To China, “We were introduced to Bohemia by Akshay, on whose request Bohemia composed a number for our film.”
Though, considering the big star that he is, the producers of Akshay’s films have readily agreed to his suggestion, but the music composers of these films are not too happy with this new idea that Akshay is said to have come up with. Earlier also, reports suggest that though the composers of Chandni Chowk To China were not very keen on such composition, they ultimately gave in and restrained from making this a big issue. But now it seems that both Anu Malik and Pitam, who are composing for Akshay Kumar’s two films Kambakkht Ishq and Pritam De Dana Dan, respectively have seriously objected to this idea. Sources close to the two music composers say that while both acknowledged that international artist like RDB, make good music, they were not very happy with the idea that whereas its they who put in all the hard work, the international music artists walk away with all the fame by composing just one puppy number.
For the time being though it seems its Pitam who has got his way, since the producer of De Dana Dan, Ratan Jain has left it purely on the director Priyadarshan, to decide whatever is in the best interest of the film, but Anu Malik is not so lucky as the producer of Kambakkht Ishq, Sajid Nadiadwala has in principal agreed to record one such number for his film.
