Anupam Kher Backs Out Of Hitler’s Role

by admin on June 22, 2010

Anupam Kher has backed out from the role of Hitler.

Anupam Kher, who was initially very excited about the new movie where he was to play the role of Hitler, has now backed-out from the film. Anupam said that he had said ‘No’ to the movie after reported opposition from Jewish community and other historians, who did not like the idea of this film.

Reports suggest that the Jewish community and historians have objected to the way the film proposed to highlight the character of former dictator from Germany.

Historians have also objected to the fact that whereas some incidents and comments suggest that the former leader from Germany had a very radical and racial outlook, the script of the film proposed to show him as a friend of India. They claim that the contents of the two letters which, Hitler allegedly wrote to Mahtma Gandhi are in no way any proof to show that the German leader was a friend of India because the contents of those letters were never made public by either group and no one actually knows what Hitler wrote in them.

It seems Anupam has decided to play it safe by not being a part of a film, which has run into controversies even before it has gone on floor. Anupam fears that the Jewish community and historians not only in India but across the world would continue to raise objection over the film till it reaches the cinema halls. To avoid all these controversies, Anupam has decided to part with the project, in which he was earlier taking keen interest.

It is still to be decided that after Anupam backing-out and people opposing it, whether the makers will continue with this project or not. But, irrespective of the fate of the film, the fans of Anupam Kher will miss this versatile actor in the role of Hitler and the kind of new dimension; he could have brought to this character.
