The relations between one time good friends, who had even produced films together, Ekta Kapoor and Sunil Shetty recently got soured, when this empress of Indian Television industry recently threatened to drag the actor to court by serving him a legal notice.
Sources say that Ekta served this notice alleging that Sunil Shetty and his production company Popkorn Motion Pictures has failed to fulfill the commitments it had made while striking a deal with Exkta Kapoor’s company Balaji Films.
Reports suggest that some time back Sunil Shetty’s production company has started working on a film and had allegedly sold the distribution rights of the film to Ekta Kapoor.
But, much to the surprise of Ekta Kapoor, when the film was 80% complete, Sunil Shetty suddenly stopped the film mid-way and hasn’t started the work on it again ever since.
While confirming that such a notice has been sent, a spokesperson from Balaji said, “A notice has been sent to Sunil Shetty because he is the in charge of the production house making this film called The Little Godfather. All Ekta and Balaji want is that the film should be completed at the earliest so that as distributors, Balaji are in a position to sell it further.”
Though producer-actor Sunil Shetty was not available for comments, the partner in his production company Popkorn Motion Pictures denied having received any such notice.
But, Bollywood circles are buzzing with the rumor that there may be more to this than just completion of a film and the relations between Sunil Shetty and Ekta Kapoor may actually be at an all time low. This came to light when a neutral person in this entire controversy, the director of The Little Godfather Joy Augustine on being contacted said, “I too have come to know that Balaji has sent a legal notice. But I cannot say anything on it more than this.”
Now, why he doesn’t want to say anything leads to more questions than answers.
