Arjun Rampal
Though, when Shahrukh Khan was asked about it on his return from South Africa recently, he had denied the alleged reports that he has any plans to sell his IPL cricket team, gossip circles have again started speculations that Shahrukh Khanis contemplating this option seriously.
Sources say that though the second edition of IPL is still on, Shahrukh Khan has already initiated the process of selling his Kolkatta Knight Riders, which hasn’t performed all that well in the ongoing edition of the tournament.
But, if you though that Shahrukh exit will mean less Bollywood involvement or reduction in glamour element in the competition, then you are wrong. Because the man who has come forward to buy a share in the team from Shahrukh is another Bollywood heart throb and Shahrukh’s good friend Arjun Rampal.
But, unlike what some of you may like to think, going by Arjun’s remarks on this issue, it seems that rather than Shahrukh, the offer to get involved with the Kolkatta Knight Riders has come from Arjun Rampal’s side only. In Arjun’s own words, “I prefer cricket than any other sport. And yes, I’d love to own a cricket team someday. Maybe one day when Shah Rukh is selling a stake from his share of the ‘Knight Riders’, I’ll definitely buy some. Because I really like that team.”
So, it seems that standing by his words, Shahrukh has not shown any intentions from his side to sell the team. Moreover, keeping in mind what Arjun has said, it seems he is only buying a share and not the entire stake from Shahrukh Khan
Yet, it may be difficult to guess what Shahrukh will do. There are chances that justifying the title King that Bollywood has given him, Shahrukh may decide to put the memories of 2009’s IPL behind him and continue to be the sole owner of Kolkatta Knight Riders.
