Chetan Bhagat
Whereas everyone is happy with 3 Idiots, one man who is upset with the film is Chetan Bhagat.
With 3 Idiots collecting a record Rs. 100 cr in its first week of release, the film has been declared one of the biggest Bollywood hit ever. The film, which hits hard on the education system of India, has been praised equally both by critics and common men, who go to theatre to watch a film.
But, whereas everyone is praising the film, one man, who is upset with the film is author Chetan Bhagat. You may recall that from the very day this film went on floor, there have been reports in the media that 3 Idiots is loosely based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel Five Point Someone. And though the makers of the film took permission from the writer before starting the film, strangely there is no mention of the writer while giving the credits of the film.
Though Chetan has not directly raised a finger at the makers, he expressed pain at his name not being included in the credits when he said, "Giving credits to the writers and author is the sole prerogative of the filmmakers. The makers have taken proper permission from me and paid the whole amount due to me. After that, whether they include my name or not, is a matter of their personal choice. “
The author further added that contrary to certain reports, which say that 3 Idiots just has 20% resemblance to the original novel, the film is around 75 top 80 percent similar to what he wrote.
But now that the film has been released, there is not that Chaten Bhagat can do apart from being unhappy over his name being not included in the credits of the film.
