Not only for those, who have just entered the industry but even for the established actors, working in production houses owned by their co-stars can be very difficult. There was a time when big stars never liked to work for each other’s production houses. Foe example, you must be knowing the famous story where Dilip Kumar refused to work in Raj Kapoor’s home production Sangam saying that for him to work, the film should be directed by an outside director instead of Raj Kapoor himself.
Off late though, actors have been more open to the idea of working in each other’s banners. One recent example of this was seen when Ajay Devgan worked for Amitabh Bachchan’s home production Major Saab in 1998 and then the following year Amitabh Bachchan returned the favor by working for Ajay Devgan’s home production Hindustan Ki Kasam.
But, in times of these changing trends, Deepika Padukone is one actress, who loves working in the banners of her co-stars. Speaking about her experiences in working in films being produced by her co-star, Deepika said “I love working in the banners of my co-stars. If fact, both Shahrukh Khan in my first film Om Shanti Om and Saif Ali Khan in Love Aaj Kal, the two co-stars in whose film I have worked in, have been great producers and I have really enjoyed my experience of working with them.”
Speaking specifically about her experiences about Love Aaj Kal, Deepika said that contrary to what many would like to believe, Saif’s lover interest Karina neither came on the sets of the film nor did she ever interfere in the making of the film.
