Deepika Padukone plans to fund the needy sportsmen.
Being a daughter of a sportsperson, Prakash Padukone, Deepika has always had a soft corner for sport and sportsperson. And since her father himself struggled to achieve a place in the field of sports, Deepika wanted to do something for underprivileged and needy sportsmen.
Keeping this in mind, Deepika had plans of funding the underprivileged and needy sportsmen, who needed help to come up in sporting activities and wanted to launch a project in this regard. But, if sources close to the Bollywood lead lady are to be believed, Deepika has now put the project on hold at least for a year. The sources add that though Deepika was very keen to go ahead with the project, she had no choice but to postpone it because of her busy schedule.
The sources further said that since Deepika feels that she is not in a position to concentrate on the proposed project till 2011, she has decided not to put in her energies in it for the time being.
The source said that Deepika felt that given she has one more year with her to launch this ambitious project, which is very close to her heart, she can now plan the project and give it a proper shape before it is eventually made public.
But when asked, the source said that Deepika had genuine concern towards sports and sportspersons and she has not undertaken this project merely for the sake of publicity.
So, hopefully Deepika’s fund for needy sportsmen will come as a new ray of hope for those, who despite having the talent, cannot take up sports as a career. Deepika also hopes to fund research and development programs in the field of sports with this money.
