Dev Anand
Dev Anand is very upset with and has objected to director Rohan Sippy for using his song Dum Maro Dum.
Veteran Bollywood actor Dev Anand is said to be extremely upset with director Rohan Sippy for allegedly using the popular song Dum Maro Dum from Hare Rama Hare Krishna, a film produced by Dev Anand, in early seventies.
Rohan’s plans to recreate the song in his upcoming film with the same name, has now run into trouble with Dev Anand taking legal action against Rohan in this regard.
A source close to Dev said, “Dev is quite possessive about this song. Legendary names are involved in this song and he also fears that Rohan and his associates may not be able to do justice to it.”
When contacted, Dev while confirming the reports of his taking legal action against Sippy said, “I have spoken to my lawyer to see if we can stop this remix. Rohan cannot put his stamp on another person’s classic.”
Ironically, Dev not only has raised objection to the classic song being remixed but also opposed to the fact that the particular song is to be filmed on Bipasha Basu. Dev said Bipasha does not have the kind of appeal needed to carry out this song successfully, something which only Zeenat Aman had.
Rohan, who is right now shooting for the film in Goa said that Dev is a senior person in Bollywood, whom he respects a lot. He would personally meet the actor-director to sort out whatever doubts Dev Saheb may have about the inclusion of the particular song in the film.
Now whether Rohan will be able to convince Dev, who has raised objection to the song Dum Maro Dum being included in this new film or not that only time will tell. But, hopefully, Rohan is able to use the song in his film in a proper manner and you will get to hear the classic all over again.
