Aamir Khan

Have you ever heard a star telling people not to watch his film? Well one star, who is making this request off late is Aamir Khan.

Aamir is a man of very strong likes and dislikes, beliefs and faiths. He only takes up a project when he is convinced with the script. Same holds true for everything else. For example, ,some years back, he stood up for a cause when he supported farmers in Gujrat, who were fighting for their dues after the state government took away their land for the Narmada Dam project but did not do enough to compensate them. Once Aamir was convinced that those landless laborious, who were fighting in Gujrat had justified demands, he stood by them and did not budge even to the slightest extent, despite the fact that his film Fanaa was banned in the state and widespread protest were taken out against him by those who supported the Narmada project in Gujrat.

It now seems that Aamir has learnt a lesson or two from that incident. Aamir, who, along with Shahrukh Khan is again become the target of few people for supporting the producers against the multiplex owners, in a very strong worded statement has said that rather than making a compromise and promoting his films in such a way that he has to ask his fans to come and see his films at multiplexes, he would rather ask his fans not to see his films at all.

Aamir made these remarks with regard to his film Raakh, which was originally released in 1989 and is scheduled to ‘re-release’ in next few weeks time. Aamir is also said to be highly upset with the distributors of the film, who are releasing the film during this disturbing times, when the producers and multiplex owners are not having good terms over the issue of revenue sharing.

Though Aamir needs to be congratulated for sticking by his position, he also needs to understand the distributor’s position, who feel that for them this may be the best time to ‘re-release’ Raakh, when no big movie is hitting the screen.
