It all started when the multi-award winning Slumdog Millionaire was compared with Madhur Bhandarkar’s Traffic Signal. Many people, who saw both the films felt that Danny Boyle’s film was quite similar to what Mudhur had made.
But in coming days, there may be one more similarity between the two directors. Sources say that after working in her debut film with Danny Boyle, Freida Pinto, the lead actress of Slumdog Millionaire, may now be working with Madhur Bhandarkar.
No, it is not as if Freida and Madhur have discussed any project or Madhur has any film in mind for this most sought-after lady in Hollywood, but Freida in an interview has said that if ever she enters Bollywood, she would want to do her first film with Madhur only.
Madhur on his part couldn’t hide his happiness when this news reached him. Says the director, “I’m quite flattered to hear Freida wants to work with me. I think she is aware of my female-oriented cinema. She must have seen the performances that Tabu and Konkona Sen gave in Chandni Bar and Page 3. I’d love to work with Freida.”
Yes, Madhur you are right. It seems that Freida has been impressed by you because you are one of the very few directors in Bollywood, who has filmed women oriented stories with great commercial success. But, making these films with talented actresses like Tabu, Konkona and Priyanka may be very different from making a film with Freida. Yet if you can do so, then you are truly a great director.
