Karan Johar says he made My Name Is Khan because he was fed-up with typical Bollywood kind of movies.
Karan Johar has certainly made a point or two with his recent directorial venture My Name Is Khan. With this film, Karan has proved that he can make other kind of films apart from the usual feel good films, which he has made in the past and for which he is so well known.
Says Karan, "I was fed up with Bollywood, its item numbers, big sets and the usual style of films, which I make. It was all too easy and getting repetitive for me. I wanted a challenge and do something different.”
Karan, who was in Germany to take part in Berlin film festival where his new film My Name Is Khan was shown, said that unlike his earlier films, which were for Hindi speaking audiences only, this film is both for national and international audiences. He expressed happiness that when it comes to international audiences, his film has got better opening than the record breaking 3 Idiots.
It seems that ultimately being fed-up with typical Bollywood kind of film making and moving away from it has proved to be advantageous for Karan Johar. With the grand success of My Name Is Khan, he has shown to the world that he can make a film on a serious issue, which universally appeals to everyone.
