Karan Johar has extended his stay in New York to attend the premier of Kites.
Shahrukh Khan is not the only friend of Karan Johar in the Hindi Film Industry. The fact that the producer-director has other friends in the industry as well came to light when Karan extended his stay in New York to attend the upcoming premier of Kites.
Karan Johar, who was is enjoying a holiday in New York, where he went for the release of the English version of his film My Name Is Khan said, "It’s a big film for the Roshan family, who are very close to me and Shahrukh Khan. The success of Kites is also very important to the Hindi film industry. I’ve a release I Hate Luv Storys coming up in couple of month and if ‘Kites’ does well at the box office; it’d mean favorable things for my films."
Karan probably does not want to miss the premier of Kites because though the Hindi version of his film My Name Is Khan hit cinema halls way back in February, its English version is releasing almost simultaneously with Kites. So, while the Roshans promote the English version of their film, being present at the premier will give Karan a chance to also promote his film, whose English version has just been released.
In his words though, Karan said “By releasing the shortened English version of My Name Is Khan we have put a step forward in taking Bollywood to the west. Now we are taking another step in this direction by releasing the shortened English version of Kites. I am here to extend my support for that.”
Karan added that he has extended his stay in New York because he is very excited about the premier of Kites and can’t wait to see it.
