Katrina Kaif followed Priyanka Gandhi for her character in Raajneeti.
Ever since director Prakash Jha started making his political drama Raajneeti, there have been widespread speculations that Katrina Kaif has copied one of the most powerful lady politician in India, Sonia Gandhi for her role in the film. But reports now suggest that though she had a political figure in mind while portraying this character but rather than Sonia, Katrina tried to follow Priyanka Gandhi for this role.
Putting an end to all the rumors that she has been inspired by Sonia Gandhi for her role in the film, Katrina recently said in an interview, "As part of the basic exercise to prepare for this role, I followed Priyanka because she is a very strong person. I feel she is very independent and a right mixture of modern values, ethics and everything."
Katrina said that though her character in the film is not based on Priyanka, she followed her because director of Raajneeti Prakash Jha was influenced by Priyanka’s image as a young and independent lady. He felt that if Katrina can imitate Priyanka’s movements and body language in the film, she would be able to portray the character of young and independent women more successfully.
Katrina said that there have been speculations about her character resembling Sonia because just like the Congress President in real life, she wears a Saree in the film. Also, the speculations of her character resembling Sonia gained momentum once she signed the film since both Mrs. Gandhi and she cannot speak Hindi properly in their real life.
Whether its Sonia or Priyanka, Katrina following a real person for her character in Raajneeti, makes it a very interesting film to watch.
