Katrina Kaif must be a very happy today. Her role in Raajneeti was a difficult character for her since despite not being very good at Hindi, she had to speak long and difficult sentences in the language in the film. Critics also saw Raajneeti as a test for Katrina because although she has been associated with many hit films in the recent past, Raajneeti was still a test for Katrina because to carry out this deglamorise role successfully, she had to depend totally on her acting skill as Raajneeti had no scope for the usual song and dance sequences, which can carry a film forward despite there being no real substance in the film.
Though with films like New York, Katrina has proved on earlier occasions also that she can act, her performance in Raajneeti has put an end to all discussions in this regard. Whereas Katrina had always received the love and affection of a common Bollywood fan, now she is even being appreciated by critics, who do not shower praise and love to the stars that easily.
Critics just can’t stop praising Katrina for her work in Rajneeti. Noted critic and analyst, Taran Adarsh said after watching the film, “Katrina as done a fabulous job and her sincerity and earnestness shows in every sequence of the film. She has managed to shed her glam doll image and transforms into an actor with this film.”
Another film critic while praising Katrina for her role in Raajneeti said that with this role, she has not only silenced all her critics but sent a strong signal that she intends to play a long innings in Bollywood. She has the capacity to not only portray sweet roles to perfection but can handle tough dramatic characters equally well.
The praise she has got for her performance in Raajneeti goes to show that Katrina has the capacity of carrying a film on her shoulder not only on the basis of her beauty but also on the basis of her acting skills.
