Ranbir Kapoor
Director Mani Ratnam is said to be very keen on signing Ranbir Kapoor for his next film.
After winning applauds for Wake Up Sid and the commercial success of Ajab Pren Ki Ghajb Kahani, Ranbir Kapoor has become the most desirable star in Bollywood with all big producers waiting to sign him.
Big directors like Ram Gopal Verma and Mani Ratnam are waiting to sign Ranbir. After Ram Gopal Verma, who wanted to sign him for Sarkaar 3, reports now suggest that director Mani Ratnam is keen to sign Ranbir for his new film, which he plans to start after Ravana.
Sources close to Mani Ratnam say that the director, who is right now busy giving final touches to Ravana, has already started working on the script of his next film Azan, a film which talks about positive side of Islam in times when it is being mostly associated with terrorist activities.
The sources add that Mani Ratnam has watched the four films of Ranbir that have been released so far and is highly impressed by his acting skills. The director is also confident that Ranbir is just the right actor, who can do justice to the lead male character in Azan. Mani Ratnam feels that unlike Ram Gopal Verma’s film, Ranbir will sign this film because this is a new role for the actor and he has not taken up this kind of a character so far in his acting career.
Though, Mani Ratnam is keen to work with Ranbir, there is still no word from the actor as to whether he is interested in being a part of this project or not. Unlike Sarkaar 3 though , Ranbir has enough time to think about this project as Mani Ratnam’s entire focus right now is on completing and releasing Ravana. The director will only start work on this movie in August after Ravana releases in May next year.
