A friend in need is a friend indeed. But that doesn’t seem true for Karan Johar and his film My Name is Khan. Karan Johar must be cursing the above saying these days.
Though he may be taking a center stage where he goes with a big smile on his face, in reality, nothing is going right for this celebrity film maker.
It all started in way back in 2006, when despite having all those big stars as a part of it, his Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna didn’t actually set the box office on fire. As the director went out searching for the reason for the failure of his film, he couldn’t find any except the obvious. Unlike his previous two films, which were a smash hit, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna did not have the lucky pair of Kajol and Shahrukh Khan.
So, when Karan was about to start was about to launch his new project My name is Khan, he left no stone unturned to ensure that bot Shahrukh Khan and Kajol make the lead pair of his film.
But if you thought that was the end of his problems, think again. Since despite all the pains that Karan took to hear a yes from Kajol and make her sign My Name is Khan, his problems don’t seem to end. First it was Shahrukh Khan, who due to his shoulder injury and IPL commitment couldn‘t give time to Karan’s film and now its Kajol, who is making Karan’s life misrable.
Reports suggest that Karan was planning that once Shahrukh Khan gets free from his IPL matches, he is going to take the entire team of his film abroad for a long schedule. But Karan’s plans got a major set back when he got a thumbs down from Kajol, who informed her director that her family commitments, she is not in a position to travel abroad.
As sources put it, “When the film was planned, Karan had informed Kajol that he will need shoot one schedule in USA, to which Kajol had agreed. But she is refusing to oblige him this time around, since she has to attend to her daughter, who has just joined school.”
Kajol has now requested construct a set in Mumbai itself, something which Karan is not happy about since he feels that unless he shoots abroad, he won’t get the natural look that he desperately needs for his film.
Right now, both Karan and Kajol haven’t blinked. And, with Shahrukh Khan still in South Africa, both them are keeping their fingers crossed, hoping to get their way.
