Nadeem-Shravan
After staying out of Bollywood for many years, music directors Nadeem-Shravan plan to make a comeback into the Hindi Film Industry.
Today, having the legendary music composer A. R. Rehman ensures that whether your film succeeds at the Box Office or not, the film’s music would certainly make it big.
But, there was a time when something similar was said about music composer duo of Nadeem-Shravan.
Though, some people give the credit of bringing melody back to Bollywood to the compositions of Anand-Milind, who made the entire country swing to their fabulous number Papa Kehte Hain and other tunes of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, it was Aashiqui, which totally changed the concept of music in Bollywood.
Whereas Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, which established Anand-Milind in Bollywood was a complete and a fabulous film, Aashiqui was something very different.
Aashiqui, which was released in 1990, was a trendsetter in the sense that it made the industry realize that a film can be made hit just on the basis of good music only. It also made our film makers realize that good music increases people’s curiosity towards a film and gives it that extra publicity. It was Nadeem Shravan, who compelled many producers to take music seriously.
Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, Saajan, Sadak, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Phool Aur Kaante, are examples of some films, whose names wouldn’t have been written in Golden letters in the history of Bollywood, without the music of Nadeem-Shravan.
But then, Nadeem’s alleged involvement in the murder of Super Cassettes Industries owner Gulshan Kumar made the musicians disappear from the industry.
It now seems that years after Gulshan Kumar’s murder, the musical team of Nadeem-Shravan is all set to once again enter the world of Bollywood. They have off-late been associated with Do Knot Disturb and the music of the film has not done too badly either. This has encouraged many more producers in Bollywood to approach the two to compose for their films. Reacting to this positive development, a visibly happy composer Nadeem recently said, "I am happy that the Indian audiences are again swinging to the foot tapping music of Nadeem Shravan.”
It would be interesting what new and different Nadeem-Shravan have to offer on their return. Of course, what their fans and other music lover would like to see is whether, on their comeback to Bollywood, they can create the same magic that they created in 1990s.
