Imagine a situation where one actor reaches sets of his film for shooting and finds another actor is already shooting for the character, for which he was approached.
Though, such a situation was not created in real but a step in this direction was taken by Kunal Kohli, directors of films like Hum Tum and Fanaa.
The one time film critic turned director Kunal Kohli, who has now separated from Yashraj films and started working independently, got into a slight mess some days back, when he allegedly offered the same script to both Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor.
But, it seems that when Imran Khan came to know about the matter, the young actor was highly upset with Kunal’s unprofessional approach and went around showing the copy of the script to everybody, accusing Kunal of offering the same project to both him and Ranbir at the very same time.
Though, when asked to comment on it, Kunal refused to say anything on the matter apart from refuting the alleged allegations that were made against him. Kunal on his part says that he is working on two films and has offered different scripts to both Imran and Ranbir.
But, more than Kunal, the entire controversy has made life difficult for Imran Khan. Those who have stood up in support of Kunal Kohli say that it was not proper on part of Imran to disclose his premature discussions with Kunal in public. They say that big stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan discuss thousands of projects at a point of time but never make them public till the time, they have been actually finalized. Moreover, the supporters of Kunal Kohl point out, there is nothing unusual about what Kunal did. Many projects are discussed with various actors, before a suitable person is finalized.
Though, Kunal on his part has denied these rumors, some say that Imran’s actions may also have the backing of Yash Raj Films, who are not happy about Kunal leaving their production house and starting his work independently.
Though, the fault here lies with Kunal Kohli, who should have followed the general practice of waiting for one actor to reject a film before offering it to the other, the ultimate loser will be Imran, who now will lose a project, which otherwise could have been his.
