Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza
The story of Houseful is said to be similar to the real life incidents taking place with Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik.
Though it is just a co-incidence that Sajid Khan’s new directorial venture Housefull is releasing just when the much-hyped marriage of Indian Tennis star Sania Mirza and cricket from Pakistan Shoaib Malik is about to take place, what has generated curiosity in the movie is that the story of the film is said to have an unique resemblance to the way events are unfolding in the real life of the couple involved in sports.
Reports suggest that just like Shoaib in real life, though Akshay Kumar falls in love with Deepika Padukone in Housefull, he cannot marry her because for doing so, he must first be legally separated from his earlier wife Zia Khan.
But when Akshay was asked to comment about the resemblance of the situation in the film with Sania-Shoaib marriage, Akshay rubbished the report saying that contrary to claims by a single woman that she was married to Shoaib, three different women try to stop his marriage in the film saying that all three of them are his wife.
Director Sajid Khan said, “We do have a sequence in the film where Akshay’s wedding is interrupted by a woman claiming to be his wife. Compounding the similarities with the real life situation which are grabbing headlines is the fact that the first wife’s claims are not as simple as they seem. But I repeat the similarities are coincidental because I wrote my script two years ago.’
May be Sajid is right that the similarities between the incidents in Sania-Shoaib life and those shown in Housefull are just co-incidental. But, since the Sania-Shoaib case is fresh in the public memory, it may benefit the film at the Box office.
