Deepika Padukone
Though she considers Saif Ali Khan a great producer, Deepika Padukone is not said to be too happy with Saif Ali Khan as a person. The young actress is not at all amused with Saif for going public about the fact that Kareena Kapoor was his first choice for the female lead in Saif’s first home production Love Aaj Kal.
Yet, when it comes to discussing the matter in public, Deepika is taking a very diplomatic viewpoint and is very conscious about what to say. She says, “Saif is a great producer. I do not have any complaints. And, since he is so much in love with Kareena, it is natural that he wanted to cast Kareena opposite himself.”
It needs to be mentioned here that though Kareena was his first choice, Saif had to cast Deepika since the director of the film Imtiaz Ali wanted so. This is rather strange considering the fact that since Kareena featured in his last directorial venture Jab We Met, which was a blockbuster hit, it was expected that she would be Imtiaz Ali’s first preference for the film.
Well, if Saif hasn’t used very kind words for Deepika Padukone by saying that Kareena was his first choice, Deepika too has not been far behind and hit back of sorts by saying that Saif won’t regret Imtiaz’s choice of casting her in the film.
How Saif and Deepika look together on screen will only be known once Love Aaj Kal releases, but the kind of arguments that have taken place between the two is surely giving a great deal of publicity to the film.
