Aamir Khan has sought disabled friendly infrastructure in the country as he awarded the IBN7 Bajaj Allianz Super Idols awards to persons with disabilities.
While facilitating persons with disabilities, who despite going through all the problem have not only overcome their own disability but also helped other persons with disabilities do so, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan sought a disabled friendly infrastructure in the country.
Speaking at the IBN7 Bajaj Allianz Super Idols awards, Aamir said, “Our society barely thinks about the physically disabled people. It’s necessary that there should be proper infrastructure – be it buildings, theatres, roads – everywhere so that they can too have a comfortable access to every place just like a normal person does.”
It is worth mentioning here that whereas Aamir has throughout maintained that he has never had any interest in award ceremonies, he not only agreed to be a part of this award ceremony but also took personal interest in it. Talking about Aamir’s interest in the event, IBN’s editor in-chief Rajdeep Sardesai said that the Bollywood actor was so keen in the event that when after initial communication, authorities at IBN did not get back to him; Aamir himself took the initiative to contact the channel and ask when the event is scheduled.
Aamir not only took part in the event but also listened with patience what the 18 winners, most of whom were persons with disabilities, had to say. At the same time, Aamir also provided some instant help to the winners, when he requested music composers Anu Malik, Lalit and Aadesh Shrivastava, all of whom were present at the event, to give a break in playback singing to one of the winners, who sang at the occasion.
The event was also attended by some other celebrities like Bollywood leading lady Tabu and famous Television star Smriti Irani.
Hopefully, the IBN7 Bajaj Allianz Super Idols awards will encourage many more persons with disabilities and Aamir’s request in this regard, will help them seek better infrastructure.
