Aishwarya receiving Padma Shree from President Pratibha Patil
Today Aishwarya and Akshay Kumar have added another feather in their cap when they received PadmaShree award from President of India Pratibha Patil in Ashoka Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan. This is the fourth highest civilian award in India. It goes without saying that both Aishwarya Rai and Akshay Kumar have received this award for their contribution in cinema.
Eminent personalities from various walks of life were present in this glittering ceremony. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Vice-president Hamid Ansari, and Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterji have graced the occasion. Amar Singh and Twinkle Khanna were also present in the Ashoka hall.
Aishwarya was looking stunning in a dark pink saree. No doubt most eyes present in the Ashoka Hall were following Aishwarya every move. She was accompanied by husband Abhishek Bachchan and father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan.Akshay Kumar had donned suit and tie for this special occasion.
