Akshaye Khanna
Akshaye Khanna has exit the sequel of Race over the remuneration issue.
You may be able to get into Bollywood by a particular name but ultimately your star value is determined by the number of hit and flops you give at the box office. But, when your luck is not on your side, even a big hit cannot help you save your career like in the case of Akshaye Khanna, who was recently made to exit from the sequel of Race over the remuneration issue despite giving a powerful performance in the first film.
Considering that the sequel of Race like the original film was suppose to be a multi-starrer, the producer of the film Ramesh Taurani and director Abbas-Mastan were of the view that they would give prominent roles to other more popular actors and keep Akshaye’s small role as a surprise package of the film. And since it was decided that Akshaye’s role in the sequel would not be as big as it was in the earlier film, Ramesh offered him a much lesser price than Akshaye usually charges to be a part of a Bollywood project.
If reports are to believed, Akshaye was so disturbed with the unfriendly treatment being given to him that he not only opposed the reduction in his price but also decided to walk out of the film when the producer refused to listen to him.
But if reports are to be believed, Akshaye’s exit from the sequel of Race over the remuneration issue has created more problems for the producers than solving them. Sources close to both the producer Ramesh Taurani and director duo of Abbas-Mastan say that whereas it was decided to rope in a more prominent actor in Akshaye’s role, the makers of Race 2 are in serious problems now, as no big star is ready to risk a role, which is smaller than the other two leading male stars of the film Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor. Ramesh Taurani and Abbas-Mastan are indeed finding it tough to get a replacement for Akshaye, whom they had thrown out of the film in haste.
