Bollywood is celebrating and cheering Saina Nehwal’s win. Congratulations for the Indian badminton sensation Saina Nehwal poured from all over Bollywood with major stars and producers/directors lavishing copious praises upon the the winner of the Indonesian Open Super Series at Jakarta, her third international title in a row. According to PTI:
World number three Saina, seeded top in the tournament as defending champion, defeated unseeded Sayaka Sato of Japan 21-19 13-21 21-11 to clinch the Indonesian Open, which is her third title in as many weeks. Saina Nehwal’s victory in 2010 Indonesia Open was rewarded with a prize money worth 18,750 U.S. dollars.
“I never expected to reach the finals as there were two good Chinese players in the draw but I believed in myself and got the result I wanted,” said the 20-year-old sports star after winning her title.

In the times when the only sports that seem to exist in the world are soccer and cricket (at least in the Indian sub-continent) the Bollywood celebrities have begun to reckon the importance of other games and sports too.
Since most mainstream celebrities these days use Twitter they used the social networking website to shower congratulatory messages upon the girl from Hyderabad, although she herself is not on Twitter.
While Amitabh Bachchan asked his Twitter followers how Saina was doing — “Wow ..!!! Brilliant .. go india, go Saina !!” — his son Abhishek Bachchan posted, “Saina congratulation!! Way to go girl.”
Both Anupam Kher and his son Sikander Kher cheered for Sania. Sikandar posted: “GO SAINA !!!” and Anupam Kher Tweeted an elderly advise for her: “Saina is the most focused sports person in the country today. And it shows. Hope the advertising world doesn’t take over her life and game.”.
Actress Gul Panag who is very active on Twitter retweeted one of her followers’ tweet: “Saina Nehwal wins her 3rd Super Series title. Kudos and congratulations to the champion..”
Karan Johar openly admitted that he doesn’t follow badminton but Saina’s proud parents filled her with overwhelming emotion. He tweeted: “Kudos to saina nehwal!! Not that I follow badminton but just watching the pride on her parents face was beyond victory! You go girl!!!”
“Fantastic for Saina. If you read about her you get to know the massive hard work and sacrifice she and her family have put in.” Tweeted Rahul Bose, who himself has been a member of the Indian rugby team.

“SAINA – truly a remarkable feat- congratulations.” wrote Riteish Deshmukh on Twitter.
More and more Bollywood actors these days make an effort to connect with major as well as upcoming players in the country. It all began with crickets, but now every performing player — call it the effect of the Internet that enables them to talk directly to their followers — more or less gets the attention he or she deserves.
