Bollywood stars have urged BBC not to close its Asian Radio Channel.

Bollywood stars Aamir Khan and Shilpa Shetty have urged the BBC to not to stop the transmission of its Asian Radio channel.

In a letter to the international broadcasting company around 150 celebrities including the two Bollywood stars have expressed shock over the channel’s decision and requested BBC director general Mark Thompsoto reconsider it.

The celebrities said that they have grown up listening to the channel and it is hard for them to believe that the channel will now be closing its operation. They added that the channel over the years has been showcasing the cultural diversity of Asia and now it would be very sad that its service would no longer be available.

‘The appeal was made by the celebrities including the Bollywood stars after BBC announced a few days back that it would like to shut its Asian Network and 16 other music stations and reduce its spending on online services.

Let us see if the request by Bollywood celebrities does influence the BBC network to change its decision to close the Asian Radio Network.
