Karan Johar
Karan Johar does not want his film My Name Is Khan to be compared with 3 Idiots.
As Karan Johar gets ready to release his new film My Name Is Khan starring Shahrukh Khan, everyone is comparing it with 3 Idiots and asking whether it will beat the record set by Aamir Khan’s film at the Box office. But Karan Johar does not want to compare My Name Is Khan and 3 Idiots.
It is not the first time that Aamir and Shahrukh, the two biggest stars of Bollywood are being compared at the box office. Such comparisons were made at earlier instances also when Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi starring Shahrukh and Ghajini starring Aamir were released at a gap of two weeks. On that occasion, it was Aamir who took away the crown when his film was declared a bigger hit than Shahrukh’s. The question everyone is asking is will Sharukh hit back with his My Name Is Khan becoming a bigger hit than the recently released 3 Idiots.
But, while everyone is asking this question, one man who is totally unfazed by this discussion and comparison between Aamir and Shahrukh is the director of My Name Is Khan, Karan Johar.
Karan says he just cannot understand why everyone is talking about his film performing better than 3 Idiots. Says Karan, “These days we are seeing films that are totally different from each other. It may not be right to compare a 3 Idiots with My Name Is Khan because they have nothing similar to each other.”
Karan says that had he made a film revolving round students and college campus, even then it would have been appropriate to compare My Name Is Khan with 3 Idiots. But since his film has nothing to do with students and college campus, the two films cannot be compared.
No doubt that by saying that don’t compare My Name Is Khan and 3 Idiots, Karan is trying to divert everyone’s attention including his own attention away this issue. But, irrespective of how much he may try Aamir and Shahrukh and their films will always be compared, putting extra pressure on the two stars, their films and their makers to out do each-other.
