With only Aamir Khan’s Ghajini left to hit cinema halls on December 25, the year 2008 has almost come to a close for Bollywood and like it happens every year, its time to look back, rewind to take a stock of the film industry in 2008.
Whereas every passing year makes a few stars see the dark side of the reel world, only to get thrown back into the real world all over again with their films not doing well at the Box Office, new stars are also born every year, some of whom entertain you for years to come. 2008 has been no exception, with many established stars failing to make a mark with their films and some newcomers taking the screen by storm. And, the two stars who have appeared as the rising stars on the horizon of Indian cinema this year are Farhan Akhtar and Imran Khan.
Though one might say that the real hero of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was its off -beat and well-written script but to take away any credit from Imran Khan for portraying his character so well might be a mighty mistake. The kind of fan-following, especially the female fan-following that this new chocolate boy of Hindi cinema has, is a sure evidence to indicate that apart from the film, Imran has managed to create his own place in the industry. Though, Imran Khan’s second offering this year Kidnap did not set the box office really on fire, Imran won a lot of applauds for not only standing up tall against an actor like Sanjay Dutt but also taking up such a challenging role at such an early phase of his career.
Farhan Akhtar, who started off his career as a director, won tremendous appreciation for his performance both as an actor and singer in Rock on.
We hope we see more of both of them in days to come.
