Freida Pinto is going to be the next Bond girl.
The lead lady of Slumdog Millionaire, Freida Pinto has been selected to play the next bond girl in a James Bond movie that will feature Daniel Craig in the lead role. The deal is thought to be worth £3million. With this role Freida Pinto will be joining the ranks of screen beauties Ursula Andress, Diana Rigg and Britt Ekland. Freida has been selected by director Sam Mendes in the movie, whose story will be based in Afghanistan.
Source said that this will be a normal bond girl role, where Freida will be seen in a typical glamorous character similar to the one played by lead ladies in previous bond movies.
This is not the first time that Freida has been considered for this role as she was to portray this character even before she became a part of Slumdog Millionaire. Sources say that she was not selected for the role then because she was too young to become the lead lady of a bond movie. But time has changed and Freida has grown and matured ever since and now she is the right choice for this role.
Since the movie is being planned for months, the director of the movie Daniel Craig had thought of many leading actress for the role. But it was Freida, who ultimately became the first choice for this role despite the fact that Freida took a lot of time to take the final decision because she was initially very nervous about taking up such an important character.
The 24-year-old Freida Pinto will be seen alongside Daniel Craig in the upcoming 007 movie, which is to be directed by Sam Mendes. It will be set in Afghanistan, contactmusic.com reported. “Sam has been talking about Bond for months now and is so excited about it,” a source said.
Peter Morgan, who wrote The Queen, has penned the first draft of the script and it promises to be visually stunning.
Though, it is a great news for Freida and her fans that she is going to be the next bond girl but this gain of Hollywood is going to be a loss for Bollywood. With Freida getting this role, she is going to postpone her plans of entering the Hindi film industry at least for the time being.
American actress Olivia Wilde is reportedly in talks to star as the second Bond girl in the 23rd outing of the spy franchise.
Update: She apparently denied that she’s going to be the next bond girl.
