Dev Anand and Sadhana in Hum Dono

Hum Dono is to be released in color and 3D

Apart from releasing the colored version of Dev Anand’s evergreen hit film Hum Dono, efforts are under way to release this film in 3D version as well.

Barry Sandrew, the founder of Legend Films, who is responsible for bringing out colored versions of many black and white classics from Hollywood and is now working on turning Hum Dono into color says, “The 3D process is currently being considered for the conversion of Hum Dono Rangeen, which will further enhance the value of this invaluable Bollywood classic, giving it new life so that audiences of future generations can enjoy it.”

Hum Dono, whose original Black and White version hit screens more than 50 years back, will be released across the globe in the colored version on January 28 and then in India on 4th February.

Barry was kind of to visit our blog and take effort to share some more facts about the Hum Dono color project. His comment is being republished here:

One very important clarification on this article: Hum Dono was colourized by C. Jagan Mohan, CEO of Trikona Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in Hyderabad and his team of exceptional artists under the collaborative eye of Legend Films (now called Legend3D) artists and technicians. Jagan Mohan is a pioneer within the visual effects industry of India and Trikona is the exclusive technology licensee of the proprietary Legend Films (Legend3D) colourization process in India. The work that Mr. Jagan Mohan produced on Hum Domo is excellent and I know Dev is very pleased with the results. In addition to 133 US titles Legend Films has colourized over the past 8 years, Legend Films produced “It’s A Wonderful Life” for Paramount Pictures and “Holiday Inn” for Universal Pictures. Those two iconic films are considered the best example of colourized US films ever produced. The colourized version of Hum Dono receives the similar distinction for a Bollywood film. There is no question from my perspective that Hum Dono is the finest crafted colourized film ever produced in India.

Expressing his happiness over the development, the lead actor of the film Dev Anand said, "It’s nostalgic to even think about the film. I still remember the kind of response we had got when it was originally released way back in 1961. I am happy that people would be able to relive the experience in a better way and hope the younger generation who has not seen the film would also love it the way the film was loved 50 years ago.”

Along with the film, Dev Anand’s fans will be able to go down the memory lane with the hit songs of Hum Dono like Main Zindagi Ka Saath and Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar.

If the colored print of the film gets good response, then it will also be released in 3D as well.
