Javed Akhtar recently got a threat e-mail.
Noted writer and lyrist from Bollywood, Javed Akhtar is said to have received a death threat e-mail.
Javed has received this e mail from an unknown person sympathetic to the Islamic organization Darul Uloom Deoband, which has issued a fatwa against the rights of Islamic women to take-up jobs according to their wish.
The concerned organization had issued a dictate saying that Islamic women should not work with men at public places because this is not allowed as per the Islamic rules.
Javed, who had met the Additional Commissioner of Police in this regard said, “I gave him the whole detail. I showed him the e-mail, the threatening e-mail, he went through it, read it and he said that there is no problem, police will do the needful and help me by giving me proper protection.”
The Additional Commissioner of Police while confirming the report that Javed had indeed discussed the issue with him said, "Mr. Javed Akhtar came to me and met me. He explained to me certain situation and certain e-mail, which was threatening. We have asked him to lodge a formal complaint, which he is going to do soon. We have provided temporarily security to him and we are going to review the security to take necessarily action."
Though there is nothing to worry for Javed as extra security will ensure that no one including the people who wrote the threat E-mail is able to harm him for the remarks he made, but this may discourage the well-known writer and lyrist and others like him to openly speak their mind in the future.
