Producer-director Ram Gopal Verma gets life threat.
Well known producer and director from Bollywood, Ram Gopal Verma has got life threats just before the release of his new film Rakta Charitra.
As seen in the case of recent past in films like Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, where some people tried to stall the release of the film, Ram Gopal Verma is getting threat calls because a certain character in his film Rakta Charitra is allegedly based on a real life person and some people are not happy about it.
The director is not disturbed by threat calls. Right now in Hyderabad, Verma has even refused to take help of security to safeguard his life. He says, “This is not the first time I have been under threat. It has happened to me on several occasions before. When in the history of assassinations have security guards been able to save anyone’s life? The one who is determined to kill you will do so come what may.”
Reacting to reports that supporters of one Ubala Reddy, on whose life Rakta Charitra is said be based are out on streets asking the film to be banned, Verma added, “They have sent a long legal notice to me in which they express their misgivings about Ubala Reddy. But I want to know how they are aware that I have portrayed the lead character in bad light when they haven’t seen a single frame of Rakta Charitra?”
As he prepares to send the film to censor board for final clearance, the director said that he is not changing any part of the film despite opposition from certain sectors and life threat given to him in this regard.
One must say that the director has acted in a very courageous manner in this case.
