Karan Johar directed and Shahrukh Kajol starrer My Name is Khan has registered another distinction to its credit and for a change it is a pleasant one. It has become the first Hindi movie with Hindi Audio description (AD) for visually challenged people.

AD helps blind and partially sighted people to grasp, enjoy and understand a movie like other people do. It is the narrative part of the movie that fits between dialogue delivery, action scenes. They provide description of costume, scenery, body language etc.

Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) along with 20th Century Fox carried out a research. The findings of the research stated that over 55 percent of respondents were more likely to watch Bollywood films if AD was provided.

Fazilet Hadi who is the director of RNIB, says, "Around 700 films are produced by Bollywood every year and our research tells us that blind and partially sighted fans want AD on these films. We hope other studios will follow 20th Century Fox’s lead."

English and Hindi both AD tracks are available for My Name Is Khan. Martin Bromfield who is the executive director of Twentieth Century, shares his opinion, "We are proud to offer for the first time ever a Hindi AD track on My Name is Khan. English speaking AD has been available on all our films for some time now, so we felt it was natural to progress and offer Hindi AD on our first collaboration with Bollywood."
