Mumbai Police is said to have assured Karan Johar full security for his new film My Name Is Khan.

In wake of the looming threats over My Name Is Khan,  producer Karan Johar met the Mumbai Police Commissioner today and sought his assurance that the film will be allowed to run without interference from any quarters. The Mumbai Police Commissioner has assured him of full security for the film.

You may recall that there was a fear that the activists from Shiv Sena may disturb the screening of the film across Mumbai and Maharashtra after Shahrukh statement that players from Pakistan should be allowed to take part in the upcoming IPL cricket tournament.

While ensuring Karan that security would be provided at all theatres screening My Name Is Khan after February 12, Joint Commissioner of Mumbai, Himanshu Roy, who has been given the duty to see through that the film hits and runs in theatres in Mumbai without any problems whatsoever, said, “We cannot disclose everything right now, but yes we have developed a protocol to maintain in case of any untoward event, and identity checkup at entry points is also being planned. The safety and welfare of viewer coming to see the movie is also being checked.”

Walking out of the office of the commission, a relatively satisfied Karan added, “Everything seems to be fine. I am not here to talk about any political party, but I was more concerned about my film, but now there seems to be no reason to worry. Everything is on board and my film will be released on the date scheduled with all location will getting proper protection by the police.”

Meanwhile, reports also suggest that both Shv Sena and Shahrukh Khan have softened their respective stands on the players from Pakistan taking part in this year’s IPL cricket, making it easy for My Name Is Khan to run in theatres all-across Mumbai and Maharashtra.

Now, it can be hoped that with Mumbai police assuring Karan Johar of full security for My Name Is Khan, the film will be able to run in cinema halls without any problems and people will be able to enjoy this much awaited film.
