Neil Nitin Mukesh recently got beaten up and went into depression.

There was a time not long ago, when perfection in Bollywood was associated only with Aamir Khan. Whether it was his long hair and mustache in The Rising: Mangal Pandey or the 6 pack abs in Ghajini, Aamir has tried something different in many of his films and has succeeded in most experiments, which he has undertaken.

Aamir’s success in trying something different with perfection, is now inspiring a lot of Bollywood actors to make similar attempts in portraying their characters on the screen. The latest addition to this list is Neil Nitin Mukesh, who recently tried to bring in perfection in his character, which he is said to be portraying in his next release Jail.

Reports suggest that in order to bring perfection to some of the scenes in Jail, where his character gets beaten up and tortured by authorities in jail, Neil allegedly asked some of his close friends to manhandle him and beat him up.

Not only this, Neil also did not take bath for three days and became completely introvert and stopped talking to anyone just to get the feeling of being a real life prisoner.

You may recall that even Ranbir Kapoor had gone into self-imposed confinement to grow his hair and beard in order to prepare for his character of a Sikh for his upcoming film Rocket Singh.

Though, it is good to see these Bollywood stars putting in so much effort to give a realistic look to their characters, sometimes the move may even backfire, like it has happened with Neil.  In order depict the feelings prisoners properly, Neil went into isolation and stopped talking to anyone some time back and allegedly landed himself into a severe depression. It then took him almost a month to come out of it.

May be, these stars may have to draw lines as to how far they may go to give a realistic look to your character. Growing your hair or keeping beard may well be acceptable but getting beaten up and going into depression just for the sake of a role may be a little too much.
