Ranbir Kapoor
Producer-director Ram Gopal Verma is said to be very upset with Ranbir Kapoor for refusing a role in his next film.
It seems Ram Gopal Verma’s ambitious project Sarkar 3 is not ready to take-off despite the director trying his best to make the project a reality.
If sources are to be believed, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan was not ready for a third part of the Sarkar series, since he felt the story had ended where Sarkaar Raj had ended. Verma had a very difficult time convincing Mr. Bachchan for a story where a grandfather couches his grandson about the power game and how to use it to your fullest advantage. The story somewhat similar to Sarkaar Raj would feature Subhash Nagre’s grandson taking over his empire.
But, if you thought that with Mr. Bachchan saying Yes to Sarkar 3, the problems were over for Verma, you need to think again. Verma, who was allegedly very keen on casting Ranbir Kapoor as Mr. Bachchan’s grandson was in for a rude shock, when Ranbir refused to do the film.
When contacted, Ranbir clarified that though he would have loved to work with Verma, the theme of the movie and the role offered to him were quite similar to what he is already doing in Prakash Jha’s Rajniti. Ranbir says that since he does not want to be typecast in certain type of roles only, he said no to Verma’s offer.
An upset Verma has now gone on defensive. He says there is no question of Ranbir refusing the role because such an offer was never discussed with him at the first place. Verma adds that since for the time being he has no plans of making the third film in the Sarkaar series, there is no question of discussing any such project with Ranbir.
