A R Rehman
A R Rehman has won this year’s Grammy Award for Slumdog Millionaire.
After winning two Oscars for his work in Slumdog Millionaire, Indian music maestro A R Rehman has now won two Grammy awards for his work in the same film.
In the 52nd edition of the awards announced in Los Angeles, Rehman won the award in both the categories he was nominated for as he bagged the trophy for the best compilation soundtrack for a motion picture category and picked up another trophy for his song Jai Ho in the best motion picture song category.
An ecstatic Rehman while accepting the award said, "This is insane, God has been great again."
While thanking his fans back in India, Rehman said after the ceremony, "Hey guys back home in India. Awesome we won two Grammies again. God bless you all for all your prayers. Your good wishes and love."
Though, Rehman has already won many international awards for his work in Slumdog Millionaire including Oscar, Golden Globes and Bafta, his winning the Grammy holds special significance since Grammy are considered as the highest honor in the field of music and winning one is like a dream come true for any musician in the world.
His win in the Grammy is also important because unlike the Oscars, Rehman had a very tough competition in both the categories he was nominated for with many senior artists like Steve Jordan Quentin, Tarantin and the producers of Twilight and True Blood running for the same awards. But, Rehan was able to prove his worth among such greats and win the two trophies.
With Rehman winning the Grammy for Slumdog Millionaire, it probably completes all major awards for him this year.
