Akshay Kumar and Ayesha Takia in 8×10 Tasveer

  Movie Review: 8×10 Tasveer
  Director Nagesh Kukunoor
Cast Akshay Kumar, Ayesha Takia, Sharmila Tagore, Jaaved Jaaferi, Girish Karnad,   Anant Mahadevan

When we go to watch a Nagesh Kukunoor film we already have certain standard in    our minds. He is the director of movies like Iqbal, Hyderabad Blues and Teen Deewarein. Here Nagesh Kukunoor is trying to make a typical Bollywood masala movie and he is nowhere near his characteristic style. In this movie hero Jai (played by Akshay Kumar) has supernatural power. He can view anyone’s past through his 8 x 10 photograph.

Akshay Kumar’s father died in an accident. That’s what Akshay Kumar believed. But Javed Jaffery thought otherwise. Akshay Kumar tried to focus on a photograph having his father and friends. Ayesha Takia played the role of Akshay’s girlfriend. At one time all of the friends in the photograph looked as suspect. Finally we have one more friend whose face is hidden in the 8 x 10 tasveer.

Throughout the movie Nagesh Kukunoor couldn’t have a firm grip over the plot. Sometimes we have a glimpse of Nagesh Kukunoor stamp on the movie but sometimes he failed miserably. He couldn’t give us a convincing ending. Akshay Kumar tried hard to give a brilliant performance and to an extent he was successful. Javed Jaffery tried to give us some light hearted moments. But cinematography is out of this world. This movie has captured the beauty and serenity brilliantly. The natural beauty of snow capped mountains, maple trees and calm lakes stands out and take your breath away with their perfection.
