Music composers Salim- Sulaiman will perform at the opening ceremony of FIFA world cup.

Bollywood music composers Salim- Sulaiman, who won many hearts with their composition Shukran Allah from the 2009 release Kurbaan, are going to perform at the opening ceremony of the prestigious 2010 FIFA world cup to be held in South Africa.

The music composers are likely to perform Shukran Allah, their famous number from Kurbaan at the event along with other numbers especially composed for the occasion since the song resembles African folk and people of South Africa will identify with it. Moreover to make the tune look more African, Salim- Sulaiman will be joined by African R&B artist Loyiso Vincent Bala and Kenyan Singer Eric Wainaina for the performance.

Talking about this special performance, music composer Salim Merchant says that it all began when on the request of a friend from South Africa, Salim- Sulaiman composed a song with an African flavor for the Republic of South Africa. The song somehow managed to reach the ears of the Organizing Committee of FIFA and they loved the song so much that they decided to call the music composers to give a performance at the inauguration ceremony of one of the biggest sporting event.

Explaining about the song, composer Salim Merchant says, “The song talks about the trials and tribulation that the country has faced in the past and how it has emerged stronger. The song is a very inspirational and larger than life number”

Though even A R Rehman is also scheduled to perform at the opening ceremony of Commonwealth games to be held in Delhi later this year, music composers Salim- Sulaiman performance at the opening ceremony of FIFA world cup is special because they will perform for a world cup, which is being held outside India and relates to an event in which India is not a participant.
