Today Sanjay Dutt suffered another setback of his life when Supreme Court of India has refused his plea to contest Lok Sabha election from Lucknow as a Samajwadi Party candidate. Sanjay Dutt was convicted under the Arms Act and sentenced to six years imprisonment by a TADA court.

A three-judge Bench of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, Justice P. Sathasivam and Justice R.M. Lodha dismissing Mr. Dutt’s application said: “In view of the serious offence for which he has been convicted by the special judge, we are not inclined to suspend the conviction and sentence awarded by the special judge in the present case.”

But Sanjay Dutt would not going to lose his sleep over the Supreme Court’s judgment. His political bosses already have a back up plan. If court debarred Sanjay Dutt from contesting election, they will field wife Manyata Dutt from Lucknow as a Samajwadi Party candidate! So we will watch Sanjay Dutt‘s better half doing the needful from Lucknow, if everything goes right.
