Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt
Amitabh Bachchan, may be the most respected actor in Bollywood, the super-star of the Hindi film industry and his films may still sell like hot cakes, but when it comes to doing business, he is just the guy next door. At least, that’s what one of his co-star and colleague Sanjay Dutt thinks.
Sanjay Dutt indicated this when he refused to heed to a request made by Mr. Amitabh Bachchan himself to part with the title ‘India’ for a film being produced by Ram Gopal Verma, which also stars Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.
It so happened that Ram Gopal Verma started a film starring Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, which he initially titled as Rann. Now, it seems, not too happy with this title, Ramu wants to change it to India 24×7. But as he applied for it, Ramu was in for a disappointment as he was informed that he cannot use the word India since the rights of this word were already registered with Sanjay Dutt’s production company. Though in anticipation of a positive response, Ramu got Mr. Bachchan to call Sanjay, it wasn’t of much help as Sanjay very politely refused him because he wanted to use this word exclusively in the title of his film only.
Revealing this, a source close to Sanjay’s company said, “It will be hard to part with the title as our film is based on sports and this title suits it to perfection.”
It may be recalled that this is not the first time that Sanjay Dutt has ignored Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. Earlier, in the early 1990’s Sanjay Dutt had refused to work with Mr. Amitabh Bachchan in the film Khuda Gawah because he wasn’t happy with the role being offered to him.
So what do you learn from this story? If there is one point that gets proved by in all this is that Ram Gopal Verma is not worldly wise and needs to kick his senses. No wonder his films don’t do well. Had he asked Mr. Amitabh Bachchan to call up Amar Singh and then Amar Singh in turn to contact Sanjay Dutt, his work would surely have been done by now.
