Blockbuster Sholay is getting transferred into 3D.

One of the most successful films of the Indian cinema, Sholay will now be turned into a 3D. Subhash Ghai’s production company Mukta Art in its endeavor to work with the latest technology, has decided to turn this blockbuster into a 3D film.

Reports suggest that producer-director Ketan Mehta’s company Maya Digital, which has a high stake in the film now, has decided to take-up the matter with the producers of Sholay and hope to announce the 3D version of the film in next few days. They have shown a trial of the 3D version of Sholay to Ramesh Sippy, who directed the original film and hope to get a thumbs-up from him in this regard

While confirming the news, Subhash Ghai said, “Yes, the producers of the film are happy with the results of the test show and we are in discussions to make Sholay’s 3D version a reality.”

Subhash Ghai indicated that Sholay is just the beginning. Many more producers are approaching them with a request to turn their film into 3D. If the 3D version of Sholay is finally released and is successful, many more films will be transformed into 3D version.

But even as Ghai seems to be so optimistic, there is a twist to the story. Ramesh Sippy, who directed the film says that whereas he has been hearing about the 3D version of his film, no one has spoken to him yet. But, he added that he would be happy if someone does work on it and transformed Sholay into 3D.
