Star-Fox is said that they are happy with the response My Name Is Khan has got internationally.
Though, the critics and other Bollywood business analysts are still busy figuring out how big a hit is My Name Is Khan, Star-Fox has said that the international film production and distribution company, which distributed the film internationally, is happy with the business the film has done on an overall basis.
Talking about the films performance internationally, spokesperson for Star-Fox said, “MNIK has raised the bar for Indian cinema overseas. My colleagues in LA are surprised by the kind of business we’re getting in the US. The film has performed two and a half time better overseas than any other Indian film. It’s a great moment for Bollywood since nobody knew that a Bollywood movie could earn so much profit internationally.”
The spokesman said that the company always believed that the film was actually a love epic which had different messages for different kind of audiences rather than just being a film related to the 9/11 incident in New York. “Therefore”, he added, “The film was promoted in different ways across various parts of the world and its good to see that the plan has worked.”
Sources in Star-Fox say that My name Is Khan is just the beginning and the company is going to produce and distribute many more Bollywood films in the future.
Though sources at Star-Fox have said that they are happy with the kind of response My Name Is Khan has done internationally, one wonders whether Star-Fox is in a self convincing mood. Though the film, which Star-Fox bought for Rs. 100 cr has earned more than Rs.150 cr, giving them a profit, it is much less than about Rs. 375 cr, which 3 Idiots has earned internationally.
