Subhash Ghai
Karma, Hero, Meri Jang, Ram Lakhan, Khal Nayak and Saudagar. Whenever the history of Indian cinema is written, the names of these films, which entertained millions will definitely feature in golden letter. Whereas, these films will keep entertaining not only you and me but generations to come, its sad that films like these will never be made again.
The reason being that Subhash Ghai, the only other Bollywood director apart from Raj Kapoor, who has been given the prestigious tag of Showman, has decided to quit film making.
Sources close to the director said he took this rather unexpected decision because his priorities in film making have changed. Ghai now feels that he has realized that its time new directors with fresh ideas come up in the field of film making, while seniors like him take up other jobs like teaching training new talents in this field. Ghai was reported as saying, “The educationist in me has become dearer to me now. And since I have nothing left to prove as a film maker, I might well pass the baton to the next generation.”
Listing out his new priorities, Ghai said that the expansion of Mukta Arts and his new acting school, which he proposes to set-up, consume most of his time these days. Ghai said that he expects that once new talent passes out from his acting school, Mukta Art will be able to produced at least 15 films every year.
May be after the failure of Yuvraaj, Ghai is at an all time low and feels that his own days are finally over and he should not burn his hands with directions when it is not giving the desired results.
