The Real London Dreams

Salman-Khan-Aamir-Khan

Salman Khan and Aaamir Khan

Imagine this.

As you approach Diwali this year, rather than bursting crackers and exchanging gifts, something you eagerly wait for during this part of the year, you are standing in a line, trying to get a ticket for your favorite movie London Dreams. Though, this may happen in the next couple of days as well, but the London Dreams that you are going to see next and the London Dreams that is being discussed here are two entirely different films.

No, it is not as if there is something wrong with the London Dreams that you are about to watch in the next few days because it is a big film in more than one ways. It is produced and directed by Vipul Shah, who in the past has given us film like Namastey London and Singh Is Kinng and stars Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn, who in the past have worked together in a hit film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. It also stars Asin, who has won many hearts with her performance in Ghajini.

But probably, the result would have been somewhat different had Rajkumar Santoshi had his way. Rajkumar Santoshi? What’s he doing here and how is he associated with this project of Vipul Shah?

You may be surprised to know that though, Rajkumar Santoshi has nothing to do with the soon to be released film, the original script of the movie belongs to him.

So, why didn’t he make the film? Actually, Santoshi had written this script keeping in mind the two biggest superstars of Bollywood, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan. And not only did he plan the movie with two megastars but he also had a joint sitting with both of them, where he narrated the script to the two stars.

If sources close to Santoshi are to be believed, both Aamir and Shahrukh seemed to have loved the script. But after that, whenever Santoshi tried to contact them, neither of them reverted.

Though London Dreams has now been made by Vipul Shah without either Aamir or Shahrukh, it would be a good idea if while watching the film, even if its for a spilt of a second, you imagine Aamir Khan in the character played by Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan in the character played by Ajay Devgn and think what this film would have looked like, had both of them been a part of this film.
