A couple of weeks back, as the date of the release of both its music and the actual film Love Aaj Kal drew close, people had lot of expectations from both the film as well as the music of the film. While talking to the media on this issue, both director Imtiaz Ali and music composer Pritam had said that the music of Love Aaj Kal will be better than their previous offering together Jab We Met and they have been proved right.
But, as you sit back to listen and enjoy those magical tunes of Love Aaj Kal, you need to thank the tussle between producers and multiplex owners that helped produce the foot tapping music of the film.
Says the music director of the film Pitam, “In January, lyricist Irshad Kamal, director Imtiaz Ali and myself saw the film and felt that the music of Love Aaj Kal was hopeless and was not going to work.”
Continues Pritam, “One of the biggest drawbacks of the soundtrack of Love Aaj Kal was it did not have a proper love song. I suggested to Imtiaz that there should be a song in the flashback in Kolkata, a suggest to which Imtiaz agreed. Though the initial composition was not liked by Imtiaz, then we came up with Aaj Din Chadhiya, which fitted beautifully in the film.”
Pritam says almost all songs except the song Twist needed some change and the delay caused in release of the film due to problems between producers and multiplex owners helped them do that.
While the industry is said to have suffered a heavy loss, the team of Love Aaj Kal, must be grateful to the problems between producers and multiplex owners, which delayed many films including their’s and gave them time to work on the music of Love Aaj Kal all over again.
